History and Origin of the Green Scapular

Given to Sister Justine Bisqueyburu

In the year of 1625, St. Vincent de Paul established the “Vincentian” an order of Priests. He then began the “Ladies of Charity”, which was a lay organization of generous and hard working women volunteers that supported financially and physically St. Vincent’s many merciful outreach programs in Paris, France. Eventually, St. Vincent de Paul orchestrated another new religious order to form the young women wanting to serve Jesus in the poor called, the Daughters of Charity (also known as the Sisters of Charity) under the guidance of St. Louise le Gras, the foundress of the Daughters of Charity.

In July 18, 1830, St. Catherine Labouré, a nun from the religious order, Sisters of Charity, St. Vincent de Paul began in Rue du Bac, Paris, France, was visited by our Blessed Mother. This was one of many visits which resulted in Blessed Mother giving instructions on a new Sacramental of the Church, the Miraculous Medal. Ten years later, of the same order, a Daughter of Charity began receiving visits from our Blessed Mother, in Rue du Bac, France. Blessed Mother would give a new Sacramental to the world, through a young Novice, Sister Justine Bisqueyburu.

Sister Justine Bisqueyburu was visited by Blessed Mother Mary five times beginning on January 28, 1840. After Sister Justine received the habit of the Daughters of Charity, the Blessed Virgin again visited her, holding in her right hand her heart which was surrounded by fiery flames. In Mother Mary’s left hand was a small green cloth with a cord attached to it.

This cloth had pictures on both sides of it. On one side, was a picture of the Blessed Mother as she had been appearing to Sister Justine, and on the other side was a picture of Her heart pierced with a sword and aflame with extraordinary rays of light pouring from it. An inscription with the words, “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death” was written around Her heart, and a cross was seen at the top of the flames.

At the same time, an interior voice said, “By this means, God would bring to Himself, through the intercession of Blessed Mother Mary, those who had lost their faith or had been separated from Holy Church. They would be assured of a happy death, including eternal salvation.” Since this time, spiritual and physical cures have taken place by means of this Green Scapular. It was twice approved by Pope Pius IX, once in 1863 and then in 1870. Pope Pius IX ordered the Sisters of Charity to make and distribute these scapulars when he stated, “Write to these good Sisters that I authorize them to make and distribute it.” Since then, it has been received as a sacramental of the church, well acknowledge and received. It has been approved by the church on several occasion.

The Charism or Divine Grace obtained from the Holy Spirit on all Green Scapulars are Spiritual Conversion and Physical Healing.

Prayer to the Green Scapular

(For the Salvation of Souls)

Message of our Savior and the Mother of God of the Good Council on 6/26/1977 for the salvation of the dying to a soul of atonement in Germany to the GREEN SCAPULAR of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

We are to pray this prayer daily. First, the following prayer of repentance:

Billions and millions of times my Jesus mercy! Mercy my Jesus for every dying person until the end of the world! Billions and millions of times we offer the Precious Blood and the Tears of Blood to the Heavenly Father for every dying person until the end of the world and cover them with the Precious Blood and the Immaculate Heart of Mary and with Her Tears of Blood so that the evil enemy has no power over the dying. Amen.

(Possibly pray the famous prayer to St. Michael the Archangel beforehand, "St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle...")

Holy Archangel Michael, defend us in the battle against the wickedness and the temptations of the devil. Be our protection! God command him, we implore. Thou, Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, cast Satan and the other evil spirits, who are roaming the world to the ruin of souls, down into hell. Amen.

Then:

IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, PRAY FOR US, NOW AND IN THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH. AMEN.

I apply the GREEN SCAPULAR in the spirit to all sinners of the whole world who come and go, especially to the impenitent and hardened sinners in my kinship, acquaintance, neighborhood, and among my friends and colleagues, and it shall always remain applied until the end of the world.

In addition: 3 x Hail Mary, 3 x Glory be to the Father, 3 times:

"Immaculate Heart of Mary, be our salvation and the salvation of the whole world!"

Words of the Savior:

"Whoever prays the above prayers to the GREEN SCAPULAR daily will have great glory in heaven, which others who do not pray it do not get, because by it I can save sinners."

"I need atonement souls who pray this prayer daily possibly several times. I thank you for it! And I can save them! Proclaim it!"

The Mother of God:

"My dear children! God bless you with His divine power and I also bless you, your dear Mother. Amen."
